Commercial Property Spotlight: East Harbour

What was once home to the consumer goods conglomerate Unilever for more than ten years has now found its ownership in the hands of Cadillac Fairview.

 Comprised of over 60 acres, the once soap factory is to be demolished and transformed into a mix of office, retail, and institutional developments. This project plan makes East Harbour the largest commercial project in Canada. Once complete, East Harbour is said to employ approximately 50,000 workers and be home to 4,300 residential units.

 Cadillac Fairview’s development plan makes East Harbour the first Transit Oriented Communities Program (TOC), with the expansion of the GO Train Lines, the TTC light rail transit, and to include the brand-new Ontario Line subway.

 The proposed development includes nine commercial office towers, eight residential towers, and 7,000 square meters of parkland over 15 hectares of former industrial land at 21 Don Roadway, Toronto.

 The process is planned to start making headway in the spring of 2023.
