Commercial Property: Cloverdale Mall Redevelopment
1 min read
The Cloverdale Mall is a community shopping centre at 250 The East Mall, Toronto. The mall has been open for over 60 years with 75+ stores and services. The Cloverdale Mall is managed by QuadReal Property Group.
As Cloverdale Mall has been around since 1956, QuadReal Property Group embarked on a project to reimagine the existing site. The project plans to include a mix of residential, retail, and community spaces, designed to integrate smoothly with the neighbouring communities.
The site masterplan is designed by Giannone Petricone Associates (GPA). The plan includes demolishing the existing enclosed mall structure with approximately 17,000m2 retail area, 5,270 residential units, and about 2,000m2 of community amenity space. The new site would include 10 towers ranging from 17 to 48 storeys, with podiums ranging from 7 to 8 storeys, there would also be several additional mid-rise buildings, all spread across the 9 blocks or 32-acres.
QuadReal Property Group is partnering with Mattamy Homes during phase one of the Coverdale redevelopment project. Mattamy Homes is developing a signature standalone condo located at 2 & 10 The East Mall Cresent, kickstarting the mall transformation. This condo building will stand 32 storeys all with an 8-storey mid-rise, housing over 500 units and 2,400 sq ft of retail.
Cloverdale Mall redeveloped community has close access to the Kipling Station where two TTC subway lines and the GO Kitchener Railway line meet. Additionally, this community sits right next to highway 427 and the Gardiner Expressway allowing individuals to get where they need to quickly.
Currently, the Cloverdale Mall redevelopment project is at pre-construction with no set date for completion.
