The Square One District, a multi-decade project by Oxford, AIMCo, and Hariri Pontarini Architects, will redefine Mississauga’s City Centre with a 37-tower mixed-use community. The goal of this master plan is to transform the under-utilized areas surrounding the existing Square One complex into a dynamic community and mobility hub with the addition of residential, retail, commercial, and recreational spaces spanning 18 million square feet.
The residential addition will include 18,000 new units within multiple towers. The residential towers will be a multi-phase development and offering a sophisticated urban living space with convenient access to transit, grocery, dining, shopping and entertainment. The revitalization efforts will also introduce new dining options and vibrant public spaces to the Square One shopping centre, strengthening its position as Canada’s premier destination for retail, lifestyle, and entertainment. In addition, several proposed office towers, known as The Offices at Square One District, will redefine Mississauga’s skyline offering a modern employment hub.
Located at the centre of the Square One District is “The Strand,” a public space featuring street-level retail, parks, public art, and a transit hub. With a focus on enhanced mobility, the new development provides convenient access to the local transit system, MiWay, and the future Hurontario LRT.
Square One District is set to become Canada’s largest mixed-use development, unifying residential, retail, commercial, and recreational spaces in a redefined, transit-focused area.
