Empire Communities Launches Rental Housing Division

Canada's real estate market is about to enter into uncharted waters, with the introduction of Empire Communities build-to-rent development. After nearly a year in the making, the Toronto-based builder has launched its rental-housing division, Empire Rental Living, with plans to develop single-family rental communities across Ontario and the U.S., including nearly 5,000 homes soon to be available.
Cole Young, Co-President of Empire Rental Living, explains that "The single-family rental business is here to stay in the U.S. It's a very mature business. As a whole, the business doesn't exist in Canada. We're kind of at the forefront of doing this in Canada. Our long-term goal is to bring the industry to Canada and have it over time evolve into a form like it is in the U.S."
In Ontario alone, the development will consist of boutique condos, townhomes, stacked flats and single-family homes.
