Commercial Property Spotlight: 60 & 80 Atlantic Avenue

60 & 80 Atlantic Avenue

If you ever happened to be traveling through Toronto’s Liberty Village you will come across what would appear to be two separate building but are connected through past and future.

Located at 60 & 80 Atlantic Avenue you will find a former wine warehouse that has undergone a complete retrofit, and a new thoughtfully crafted five-story mass timber office building. They’re connected by shared entrances and a public courtyard and restaurant patio area in between both buildings.

When 60 Atlantic Ave was acquired by Hullmark in 2012 they saw great potential to the stand alone building and the value adding an addition. Hired for the job of retrofit and new building design was BPD Quadrangle, local architects.

“We confirmed our understanding that the true meaning and value of heritage is not the restoration of existing bricks and mortar, but a repositioning which gives new life, new relevance and usefulness for the future.” said Richard Witt, principal at BDP Quadrangle.
