Commercial Property Spotlight: Scotiabank Arena Reimagination Project

3 min read

The Scotiabank Arena is a multi-purpose arena located at 40 Bay St., in the downtown core of Toronto. The arena is home to the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Scotiabank Arena is 665,000 square-foot sports and entertainment complex.

On October 10th Maple Lead Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) announced the Scotiabank Arena Venue Reimagination project, an investment of over $350 million. This multi-phase renovation is planned to improve almost all areas within the venue including the concourse, suites, premium clubs, retail stores, food and beverage offerings, state-of-the-art technological innovation and so much more.

The Scotiabank Arena Venue Reimagination project is in collaboration with Brisbin, Brook, Beynon Architects, DesignAgency, owner’s representatives firm CAA ICON and PCL Construction. This is the original team that led the design and construction of the venue when it opened in February 1999.

This past summer the arena renovations began with the remodel of the 200 Level Mastercard Executive Suites as well as adding state-of-the-art technology in select locations in the concourse.

The venue also added two new concession marketplaces using Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, Scotiabank Arena is one of the first Canadian venues with this technology. Grains and Greens (100 Level) and Molson Market (300 Level) are the concessions to offer this line-free effortless checkout experience.

The Scotiabank Arena Venue Reimagination project doesn’t just stop there, they plan to do more come the summer of 2024.

  • Full renovation of the 100 Level concourse.

  • Modernized concession stands, transform eight kiosks into grab-and-go style markets.

  • The expansion of Real Sports Apparel with an additional retail store on 100 Level

  • Refreshed Hot Stove restaurant on 200 Level with new entrance

  • All-new Tunnel Club and Event Level

  • Redesigned Gate 6 broadcast studio

After the completion of the initial phases of the Scotiabank Arena Venue Reimagination project, future years are set to include enhancements to fan-facing spaces as well as the 300 Level concourse, and much more.

These renovations to the Scotiabank Arena will reposition it as a top-raked live events venue in Canada.
